FAQs

What is Filmland?

The Arkansas Cinema Society's Filmland is a curated annual celebration of cinema with a mission to nurture and inspire filmmakers in Arkansas by exposing Arkansans to filmmakers and their art.

Filmland hosts producers, writers, actors and directors, productions designers, cinematographers, etc. to help showcase their work. Screenings are followed by an in depth on-stage Q&A conversation led by ACS founder and filmmaker Jeff Nichols.

Every August, the ACS will screen a collection of filmmaker accompanied curated films and television shows as well as a selection of Arkansas films - either made by an Arkansan or made in Arkansas. Submissions for Filmland: Arkansas are open to both feature length short films as well as documentaries and television episodes. We make selections based on the content that is submitted every year - we don’t have any minimums or maximums.

During Filmland, the ACS also hosts Happy Hour networking events as well as RAD after-parties to celebrate the growing film culture in Arkansas.

At what venue does Filmland take place?

All the Filmland films screen in the beautiful, updated Ron Robinson Theater in downtown Little Rock.

Can I volunteer at Filmland?

Yes! You can get involved by helping us prepare for the festival or by working at the actual event. Please feel free to email us at volunteer@arkansascinemasociety.org for more information.

When is Filmland?

What kind of films screen at Filmland?

Last year's annual event, included actor Adam Driver with screenings of The Force Awakens and Paterson, director David Lowery with screenings of Pete's Dragon and A Ghost Story, and producer Noah Stahl with Patti Cake$.

ACS will screen a collection of filmmaker accompanied curated films and television shows as well as a selection of Arkansas films - either made by an Arkansan or made in Arkansas.
